Cartography is for Lovers

I’m watching The English Patient aka one of my favorite weepy-time bleeding heart movies. I read the book in my European Literature class last year and I absolutely loved it. Michael Ondaatje wrote one of most beautiful lines I’ve ever read (or therefore heard in the film adaptation): “New lovers are nervous and tender, but smash everything. For the heart is an organ of fire.” Mind. Blown. Read the book if you can. Watch the movie if you can’t read. I mean, the movie is fabulous too (it won 9 Oscars!), but the book has all those tiny gigantic phrases that really poke at your soul. Especially my cold, cynical one. Oh, and Ralph Fiennes is super classy hot.
