3…2…1…batch updates!
On Marc Webb (dir. (500) Days of Summer) rebooting Spider-Man for 2012: Ummmm….as long as it doesn’t turn into a sob fest and/or Venom actually gets more than twenty minutes of screen time. AND he’s doing a remake of Jesus Christ Superstar too. Ambitious, Marc, ambitious. [read more]

How apropos, right?
On Avril Lavigne getting divorced after a three year marriage to Deryck Whibley: Two “punk” Canadians under one roof? I’m surprised Avril didn’t shoot Deryck after her eyeliner went missing for about two years. [read more]
On MacGruber preparing to blow up the big screen with a rubber band and some paper clips: HELL YEAH! Plus Kristen Wiig makes me laugh without even needing to talk. [read more]
On finally seeing Fanboys: Oh man, it’s not even funny how much I relate to this movie. And that I could recognize all the cameos. I mean, so could my roomie, but I had her beat after screaming out “DARTH MAUL” when Ray Park showed up (without make-up, mind you). I don’t know whether I should be proud or worried for my future well-being. Anyway, like 45892374 of my favorite Indie stars were in it too. Watch it.
On attending a Sci-Fi marathon at MIT: God bless MIT and their Lecture Series Committee for existing and also for letting civilians on their campus. My roomie, who is easily my doppelgänger (though I am the more obsessive compulsive, non-culinary trained of the two), jumped at the idea- so we packed a blanket and eight bucks and jumped on a train around 6pm.

The Last Starfighter- Maybe my new favorite
The 32nd annual Sci-Fi Marathon consisted of Evangelion: 1.0 You Are (Not) Alone (2007)- decent Anime but it’s not really my thing, District 13: Ultimatum (2010)- an early screening of the sequel to the French film District 13; oh my Holy Bananas the use of Parkour is absolutely jaw-dropping, Moon (2009)- directed by David Bowie’s son; very intense but completely surprising, The Last Starfighter (1984)- I have no logical explanation why I enjoyed this movie so much, Back to the Future Part III (1989)- a classic, and Flash Gordon (1980)- um, it was about 5:30 in the morning when we started watching this. You can imagine the delirium passing through the last 50 audience members that decided to stay the complete 18 hours. Needless to say, we laughed so hard it hurt. We got home at 7:30 am (the next day), tired but extremely happy. The atmosphere was great. Snacks (hot pockets, ramen, candy, popcorn, soda, pizza) were provided (ahem, for a small price). I’d do it again in a heartbeat. [read more]
